Setup

  1. Download RunBeat on your iPhone — the RunBeat Watch app installs on your Apple Watch automatically
  2. Open RunBeat on your iPhone → tap HR Monitor → select Apple Watch

Your Apple Watch reads your heart rate and sends it directly to the iPhone app. All training, coaching, and music stays on your iPhone.

Troubleshooting

No heart rate data during training?

  • Make sure RunBeat is open on your Apple Watch and the watch is snug on your wrist
  • Check that RunBeat has Health access on your iPhone:
    1. Open the Health app
    2. Tap your profile photo (top right)
    3. Tap Apps
    4. Tap RunBeat
    5. Make sure Heart Rate and Workouts are both turned on under "Allow RunBeat to Read Data"
  • If both are on and you're still not getting data, force quit RunBeat on your Apple Watch and reopen it

If neither path matches your watch, check Garmin's official guide for your specific model.

The Broadcast Heart Rate setting is on the watch itself, not in the Garmin Connect phone app. If RunBeat can't find your watch, check the watch settings directly.

Not compatible

Troubleshooting

Can't find my device?

Make sure your monitor is on and worn. Check that Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone. Kill and reopen RunBeat to restart scanning.

Signal dropping during training?

Tighten the strap — loose fit is the most common cause. For chest straps, re-moisten the electrode pads. Stay within Bluetooth range (~30 feet).

Won't reconnect?

RunBeat remembers your last device and auto-reconnects. If it fails, go to HR Monitor and tap your device again.
